A brilliant concept is created.
Based on his idea, nowadays known worldwide as fineblanking, Fritz Schiess-Forrer founded our company in 1920. |

Design and construction of the world’s first fineblanking press and patenting of the process by the Deutsche Reichspatentamt.

Staff moves into building housing the testing facility; production of standard type and special purpose washers begins. |

First fineblanked component produced according to a customer drawing - today this is our logo. |

1943
Despite global economic crisis and World War II, expansion into yet
another production facility. No less than 5 fineblanking presses
already operational (2 x 1'000 kN, 3 x 300 kN) |

1955
Transformation of sole proprietorship FRITZ SCHIESS
into a general partnership FRITZ SCHIESS & CO (Fritz Schiess-Forrer
together with his three sons). Construction of the office and administration building. |

Generous expansion of the production floorspace for presses and secondary operations on output of fineblanked parts. 47 presses and some 300 employees. |

1969
Enter the 3rd generation As integral parts of Hasselblad cameras, fineblanked components from Lichtensteig land on the moon. |

1972
Massive downswing in turnover as mechanical movements for
calculators, cash tills and meters are replaced by electronic elements.
In the following years, new markets are opened and a network of
representatives established. |

Transformation of FRITZ SCHIESS & CO into FRITZ SCHIESS AG |

With the acquisition of a SCHMID 160 X-TRA, the company invests in
cutting-edge fineblanking press technology. Two further SCHMID 320
X-TRA presses are added to the machine park in 2007. |
