The Company

A brilliant concept is created.

Based on his idea, nowadays known worldwide as fineblanking, Fritz Schiess-Forrer founded our company in 1920.

Design and construction of the world’s first fineblanking press and patenting of the process by the Deutsche Reichspatentamt.
Staff moves into building housing the testing facility; production of standard type and special purpose washers begins.
First fineblanked component produced according to a customer drawing - today this is our logo.
Despite global economic crisis and World War II, expansion into yet another production facility. No less than 5 fineblanking presses already operational (2 x 1'000 kN, 3 x 300 kN)
First fineblanking press with 3'000 kN capacity
Transformation of sole proprietorship FRITZ SCHIESS into a general partnership FRITZ SCHIESS & CO (Fritz Schiess-Forrer together with his three sons).

Construction of the office and administration building.

Generous expansion of the production floorspace for presses and secondary operations on output of fineblanked parts.

47 presses and some 300 employees.

Enter the 3rd generation

As integral parts of Hasselblad cameras, fineblanked components from Lichtensteig land on the moon.

Massive downswing in turnover as mechanical movements for calculators, cash tills and meters are replaced by electronic elements. In the following years, new markets are opened and a network of representatives established.
Transformation of FRITZ SCHIESS & CO into FRITZ SCHIESS AG
With the acquisition of a SCHMID 160 X-TRA, the company invests in cutting-edge fineblanking press technology. Two further SCHMID 320 X-TRA presses are added to the machine park in 2007.
Project "VEKTOR 15“ expansion of the production floorspace by 3'500 m2
